I am the guidance and counseling counselor here at Woodview. I love my job because I get to visit each classroom, from pre- kindergarten to 5th grade several times each year and talk about important subjects. Some of the things I talk about are respect, friendship, good character, responsibility, acts of kindness and even careers in the 4th and 5th grades.
One of our goals here at Woodview is promoting college and careers. In February, we will have people from different colleges talk to our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders about college admissions, what subjects to take, the cost of college, grade point averages, and how to apply for financial assistance.
In May, each grade level will hear from speakers of professions like firemen, policemen, astronauts, media specialists, doctors and others.
In addition, I speak with students individually and in groups on subjects like parents divorcing, loss of a loved one, separations and problems in the classroom.
